Introduction

Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP)

At UK Working we specialise in making applications for the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. It is widely acknowledged that there is a growing need in the UK for individuals with exceptional personal skills and experience in a wide range of industries and professions.

The current Program is a points-based system and is available only to those making an application from outside the UK. The original system has undergone a number of changes and the most recent has reduced the level of subjective evaluation by removing the work experience and achievement categories. There are now 4 main points scoring categories or an MBA provision. Only candidates with a minimum of 75 points will have a chance of being considered. In addition, it is mandatory that candidates can show either an IELTS score of 6+ or that they have completed a bachelor degree taught in English.

The Highly Skilled Migrant Programme differs dramatically from existing Work Permit programs. An application made under the Program is an application for an immigration status and this means that you may bring your immediate family with you. Unlike the existing work permit system the work permit is granted to you and not a UK company so you may change jobs as many times as you wish whilst in the UK.

In order to make a successful application it is essential that you can provide the necessary evidence to support your points claims. We will guide you through the process, identifying the evidence requirements of the Programme for you and combining your evidence with our experience to give you the best possible chance of making a successful application.

Making a successful HSMP application is the first step in the process. The second step is to apply for a visa for the initial period of up to 2 years. If you have applied for HSMP from outside the UK or are unable to switch your current visa category within the UK then a successful HSMP application enables you to make an application for entry to the UK for the initial period. If you are already in the UK and can switch your current visa category then a successful HSMP application enables you to apply for Leave to Remain for the initial period. In both situations, you can apply for an extension to your visa near the end of the initial period, to enable you to meet the requirement of 5 years residency prior to making an application for Settlement.

Firstly, it is important to find out if you qualify in terms of the points and English language. To do this, go to the POINTS CALCULATOR. If you pass this basic test you will be asked to attach a copy of your CV on the results screen and one of our consultants will evaluate your potential to make a successful application.

If we consider that your application has potential we will send you a link enabling you to register on our website. When you register, we create a Client Menu for you relevant to your application. From your Client Menu you can manage your application online.

We provide two levels of support for your application:

  1. Full Service: our Full Service is designed for those who wish to employ a registered OISC immigration consultant to handle their application completely from beginning to end. We provide an online application input facility and process tracking system, a checklist of the documents you will need to provide as evidence as well as a comprehensive Help Guide to assist you, evaluation of your application form and evidence at all steps of the process, answer your questions and concerns, and advise you in the evidence requirements for your application. Finally, we will complete the paperwork necessary for your application and submit it to the Home Office on your behalf. Should the worst situation occur and your application is refused, we will undertake a review request, where possible, under your instruction.

  2. Advice Service: our Advice Service is designed for those who would like to make their own application directly to the Home Office but would also like to have their application form and evidence evaluated by an experienced professional. We provide an online application input facility, a checklist of the documents you will need to provide as evidence, evaluation of your application and evidence, a facility to enable you to print off the application form, and a comprehensive Help Guide to enable you to ensure that your evidence satisfies the requirements of the Programme.

For all our clients, we provide an internet mail facility so that you can communicate directly with us, confident that your emails will not be lost and a reply will be forthcoming. We also provide an Online Application Tracking system. From your first communication with us we will establish a tracking record for your application. You will be able to log on to your Client Menu on our website at any time to check on the progress of your application.

Our online process has been designed by both IT professionals and former government immigration staff to ensure that the system is easy to use as well as being up to date with current UK Government guidelines.

At UK Working we adhere fully to the principles of the Code of Standards as laid out by the OISC and endeavour to deliver quality advice as specified in the Code.
